Direct Memory Access (DMA) and Ultra DMA |
|
Direct Memory Access is the
technology which allows components, such as disk drives, to access
the computer memory directly, bypassing the central processor. This
greatly speeds up the overall functioning of the computer.
In computers, speed is always of the
essence. And the newer, improved standards, like Ultra DMA and
DMA/33 and DMA/66 stand for data transmission rates up to 33 and
66Mb per second.
