Integrated Drive Electronics (IDE) and Enhanced IDE (EIDE) |
|
As mentioned in the
configuration chapter, there are several standards for communication
and transferring data from one component to another. For example,
instructions pass from the hard disk to the processor by way of an
IDE (or Advanced Technology Attachment - ATA) or the Small
Computer Systems Interface (SCSI) connection.
|
There is quite a discussion about how
much better a SCSI connection would be over an EIDE connection. It
really depends on the overall configuration of the computer. Either
standard has its place. |
