The nightmare of configuring Interrupt Requests was almost over with the coming of Windows 95, but only with Windows 98 and full PCI support did we fully appreciate not having to juggle IRQ's any more. 

 

 While there may still be occasions where you want to do your own control settings, some sound and TV-cards can be demanding, most of the time, the Windows OS sorts out this out together with the Basic Input Output System (BIOS).
